Numerous critiques and public polls regarding the Democratic party and its candidates indicate that Democrats appear to be in disarray and are not responding forcefully and effectively to the Trumpian-Republican administrative and legislative onslaught. Apparently, the Sanders-AOC rallies, the Cory Booker 25- hour Senate speech, and the Democratic Town Halls aren’t enough for the general public to think Democrats are responding forcefully. What more do they need to do? Here are some suggestions:
1. Conduct monthly televised forums on various topics, leading to the composition of Party position papers on inflation, citizenship, cryptocurrency, immigration & deportation, foreign relations, the environmental crisis, conflicts of interest, and American values.
2. Schedule weekly (or bi-weekly) marathon speeches in the Senate by a succession of members, modeled on the speech given by Cory Booker earlier this year.
3. Establish a Truth Squad to respond online to Trumpian and Republican public statements that require correction.
4. Publish online a running list of misdeeds by Trump, his Cabinet appointees and U.S. legislators
5. Publish online a running list of Trump’s conflicts of interest and schemes he uses as President to enrich himself and his family members.
6. Publish tax benefits enjoyed by the 1% wealthy oligarchs in the U.S.
7. Publish online a running list of all those who have been deported to date – and those who, by court order, have been returned.
8. Promote RECALL TRUMP petitions as resolutions approved by state legislatures, county governing boards and city councils.
9. Sponsor an active relief program to provide support for people and countries in distress due to lack of response by the Trump Administration.
