REQUIEM FOR MARCH
March was a time for Trump to see the beginning of his kingdom's demise
REQUIEM FOR MARCH
Steve Bannon has been saying it for several weeks now but it is becoming painfully clear to his Republican peers that there is going to be a Democratic sweep in the coming November elections – and that there is probably little they can do about it. In the primary and general elections that have taken place recently, Democratic candidates have managed to overturn 30 Republican-held seats in state legislators and Congress while Republicans have experienced zero victories. Bannon and these Republican losers probably don’t want to blame this situation on President Donald Trump – but it’s clear, that’s where the blame lies.
The latest act of Republican betrayal is the illegal and unwanted war in Iran. In 2024, Donald Trump campaigned for President with the promise not to engage in wars in the Middle East – and has now broken this promise, Now, with Republican approval, the U.S. has attacked Iran with no authorization from Congress and with made-up reasons for doing so. Various justifications have been offered, including the need for regime change, the threat of imminent attack from Iran, the proximity of Iranian nuclear capability (although Iran’s nuclear program has been thwarted), Israeli need for protection, etc. As a consequence, inflation has seen a steady rise (in contrast to Trump’s promise to see prices lowered), the ICE effort to rid the country of illegal immigrants has taken an ugly turn with lawlessness, street abductions (even of legitimate citizens) and even random unprovoked, unlawful killings. The cost of gasoline and the overall cost of living have skyrocketed. Trump’s approval rating in now in the 30s and still sinking. And Republican losses in recent elections have been complete.
Trump has brought this situation upon himself and his Republican colleagues. While he denies reality and insists that prices dropping and that the economy is doing great, he is aware that his fortunes are diminishing, the MAGA movement is faltering and splintering and that he will have a Democratic Congress to confront him in 2027 and likely to impeach him. Eventually, he will be subject to indictment – and that is intolerable for him. He will pull every trick in the book to avoid that happening – and to remain in office, despite the crowds who showed up to denounce him on No Kings Day, March 28th.
Will Trump attempt to cancel the November 2026 and 2028 elections? Will he resign before his term is up and have President J.D. Vance pardon him? Will he conjure up a way to run again for President in 2028? Will he manage to set aside the Constitution? Will he declare martial law? Will he prevent mail-in balloting and command ICE forces to intimidate people at the polls on election day in 2028? Will he manage to “steal” the election? Will he manage to get Congress to override the Electoral College and reelect him in 2029? These are all possibilities as the day approaches when Trump is out of office and indictment and jail await him.
