MOVIN' ON. THANKS, JOE
A vigorous campaign lies ahead - and an overwhelming victory
Thanks to Joe Biden for ending the suspense. Looking back, it was inevitable that Joe Biden would step down from being the Democratic candidate. In the wake of his disastrous debate with Donald Trump and the ensuing weeks of trying to recover, there were too many issues to overcome. Requests for him to step down were mounting and money was drying up. And he really wasn’t showing the energy needed to run a strong campaign. Everyone on this side of the aisle loves Joe Biden and regards him as a good man of honesty and integrity. But, it was clear that his time had come and his energy had been drained. He had had a good four years as President an saved the country from the bizarre and harmful reign of the would-be dictator Donald Trump.
Trump is complaining that he spent a lot of money maligning the wrong opponent. So, if Biden had dropped out three weeks ago, Trump would have directed that money toward Harris and the Republicans would have maligned Harris at their convention. Like Robert Reich and millions of other true Americans, I, too, am thankful to Joe. The odds were piling up against him and it would have been a dreary Fall. Harris has energized the Democratic Party and will carry on a vigorous campaign, perhaps drowning Trump and carrying back both Houses of Congress, slaughtering the Republicans and putting an end to Project 2025. I am delighted and grateful we had Joe Biden to restore the country after the four years of hell with Trump. Whew! What a relief! JS
